Design a campaign to promote awareness and, to provide a possible solution that could increase accessibility to our intended target audience.
Asking ourselves how can we effectively leverage unique characters in an app-based campaign to promote awareness and increase accessibility to mental health resources for university students.

This project was developed during my Third Year at Media Design School and I was lead Illustrator/Ux Designer & Team Leader.
The approach
The Mindflow campaign was designed to promote mental health awareness and improve accessibility for university students. By leveraging unique characters in an
app-based campaign, we aimed to create a relatable and engaging platform.

Our online survey revealed that 100% of participants experienced mental health challenges like anxiety and depression in the past year, underscoring the need for better support. We addressed issues like long wait times and cultural stigma by proactively offering resources and support, preventing crises before they occur. With a friendly and humorous tone, our characters guide users through their mental wellness journey, transforming the concept of mental health from mere coping to thriving.

Evolution
From initial concepts to the final draft of the Mindflow characters, the design process was extensive yet immensely fulfilling. Each phase, from ideation and conceptual sketches to the refinement of intricate details and the application of a vibrant colour palette, was carefully orchestrated.

The characters underwent numerous iterations, with constructive feedback and creative insights driving their development. This journey demanded patience and dedication, but witnessing the characters come to life in their polished form was incredibly gratifying. The final drafts exemplify the collaborative effort and creative vision that defined this project, showcasing a meticulous design process from concept to completion.

Social Media
We explored the potential virality of this concept by designing a series of multi-platform social media campaigns. These campaigns harnessed the combined forces of emotional engagement, community building, and humour.
The Mindflow app offers a welcoming and personalised experience, letting you pick an avatar, colour scheme, and even your current emotional state. This leads to your own homepage with easy access to a variety of resources. Packed with articles, helpful links, and even courses on overcoming challenges and building healthy habits, the app caters to a wide range of needs.  A built-in journal lets you track your mood, sleep, and activity, while a community page fosters connection through shared affirmations and a safe space for private chats. Finally, an SOS button ensures help is just a tap away if you need extra support.
